I have just acquired my Eurail Pass in the mail!  For those of you that aren’t familiar with this pass, it is a pass that allows unlimited travel by train through up to 21 different European countries.  I purchased the Eurail Global Pass which gives me 15 travel days over the span of 2 months.  The days are not consecutive so I have the flexibility to use them on whatever days I like within the specified period.  For example, I can take a train from Amsterdam to Prague and this counts as 1 travel day.  Then I can stay 3 days in Prague, then use the pass again for travel to Munich and that would count as another travel day.  This pass will be my lifeline throught my adventure.  It will be just as important as my passport or wallet so it will need to be kept close.  My expectation is to travel to at least 7 different countries, but with this pass I can easily hop off and on the train in many countries that I might find interesting.  For more information about the Eurail pass, please check out the Eurail Website

This is definitely going to be the coup de grace of my trip!!!  I’ve always dreamed of walking through the desert and seeing the great pyramids of Egypt emerge before my eyes.   When I was younger my mother used to give me biblical story books and it was always the stories of Moses and the Pharaoh that excited me the most.  There is just something about this place that does something indescribable inside of me.  Hopefully, my anticipation won’t turn into disappointment but we shall see.

About 2 years ago I was reading in a magazine an articled titled “Sexiest Beaches Of 2007″ and the winner was this place that I had never heard of before.  It was a beach on this little island off the coast of Italy called Sardinia.  After looking at the pictures of this place I was mesmerized and I remember saying to myself, “I HAVE TO GO THERE!!!”. It was at this very moment I would say that the idea for this whole trip was born.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve always dreamed about going to Europe, but it was after seeing this beautiful place I decided that I was going to make it a reality and this place was going to be the centerpiece.  After doing much research (which I’m still doing, btw) I’ve learned of a beautiful beach side resort on this island called Costa Smeralda, also known as the billionaire’s playground.  It is THE SPOT where the rich and famous go to vacation.  Costa Smeralda is Italian for the Emerald Coast and takes it’s name from the crystal clear, blue-green waters that it is known for.  Even thinking about being in this place in the middle of June gets my heart beating at an accelerated pace. Aside from laying on the beach sipping cocktails, enjoying some of the best Italian cuisine, and hopefully partying at the Billionaires Club I also plan on checking out other parts of the island and possibly also renting a boat depending on the prices.

I’m REALLY feelin this video right now.  I think this is gonna be the theme song of my trip.  Hehehe.

It was once said that all roads lead to Rome, therefore it was inevitable that I had to include this great city in my plans.  I’ve long had a great interest in Rome as well as all things Italian.  My favorite cuisine is Italian and I took Latin for 3 years in high school.  I’d have to say that next to the great pyramids of Egypt, the Colosseum is what I desire to see the most on this trip.  Also, my mouth is just salivating from all the amazing food I’ll be eating.   Aside from the Colosseum, other things that I plan to see here are:

• The Sistine Chapel (in Vatican City)
• Trevi Fountain
• Pantheon
• Palatine Hill
