Right now I’m at the Vancouver International Airport awaiting my flight to LONDON. The feelings inside of me are so intense and this day feels unreal. I have been dreaming about visiting London ever since I can remember and now I’m actually going. My flight departs in about 2 hours. I have to say though that I’m pretty nervous considering the horrible accident that took place with the Air France flight out of Brazil. I take on this flight with me my courage, my faith, and my incredible will. Hopefully one of those will get me through.

Last night I hung out in Vancouver with my friend Tyler and my roommate/friend Andrea. Tyler drove me to the airport and Andrea wanted to come up with us to say her goodbyes. It was a very interesting night to say the least. LOL. One story that sticks out in my head is when me and Tyler were walking the streets of downtown Vancouver at night. On a certain street we noticed that on every corner there were scantily clad women waving down the cars that passed by. Now I’m drunk and he’s drunk amongst other things and I thought that I might test out something that I heard about from watching documentaries about prostitution. I have heard that prostitutes don’t talk to black men. So me being the curious one that I am decided to test the theory. I politely went up to this one woman and politely ask if she had a cigarette. As I asked she was turned away from me. No answer. So I thought, “well maybe she just didn’t hear me”. Then I go and stand directly in front of her and said, “sorry, but I was just wondering if you had a cigarette.” ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. No acknowledgment, not even a yes or a no. Just a blank stare like she was looking right through me. WOW. I didn’t press the issue and just walked away. Then I go up to my friend Tyler, who is a white guy, and tell him what happened. He didn’t believe me. He said that he thought the reason she didn’t talk to me was because I was with him and that he looked like a cop. So then I said, “okay well how about we walk down to the next corner and I’ll walk ahead so that it doesn’t look like we are together and you ask the same question”. We started to walk and approach the next couple of women. He stops, starts talking and they engage in conversation. They talked for a good 5 minutes while I looked on. Then he comes up to me and said he had absolutely no problem approaching them. They even offered their “services” to which he declined. LOL. I guess the stories are true. From there we went back to the hotel room and passed out.  What an ending to my last night in North America.  Further updates when I get to London….
